Tutorial Number 2 : CSI: NY
It has been a while since I have made a tutorial, and
cofi_shot had asked that next time I made a tutorial that I should make it in Photoshop, so I am, but this time in Photoshop Elements 4.0. I'm sure you can translate it as it's a piece of cake and very easy.
We are from
to
in Photoshop
to
in PhotoshopStep One:
Take this photo of Mac Taylor of CSI: NY and crop it to your liking.
I decided to crop it this way:

Noticed how I did not focus directly on Mac and left the blue square in. This will help
us achieve the color we want later on.
Step Two:
Duplicate your base two (2) time [the shortcut way to duplicate is to press CTRL + J] and set Layer 1 Copy to Linear Dodge, 100% oppacity and
Layer 1 to Screen, 10%. Depending on your icon, you will need to play around with the oppacities and the number
of duplicated layers you have. My layers menu looks like this right now:

And right now my icon looks like this:

Now Merge your image [the shortcut way is to press CTRL + SHIFT + E]
Step Three:
Add This Color Twice and set it to Color Burn, 100% oppacity

Add This Color and set it to Linear Burn, 100% oppacity

Add This Color again and set it to Color Burn, 100% Opacity

Your Layers Menu now looks like this:

Now Merge your image [the shortcut way is to press CTRL + SHIFT + E]
And your icon looks like this right now:

Step Four:
Duplicate the icon once [the shortcut way to duplicate is to press CTRL + J] and set to Overlay, 100% oppacity. Merge your layers [[the shortcut way is to press CTRL + SHIFT + E]
And you're done!
The end result is this:

Feel free to add text, brushes, shapes, etc! Comment on the tutorial and I'd love to see what you guys get!
I for one have been dying to get this style for ages and I have finally found how to get it!
